MACE launches ….TOO GOOD TO WASTE initiative with renowned Chef Conor Spacey

MACE has launched a Food…Too Good to Waste initiative in collaboration with STOPFoodWaste.ie, which aims to help people make the most of their food, keep it fresher for longer and avoid food waste.

On average €700 of food is put in the bin every year by every household. MACE wants to make 2025 the year that people reduce the amount of food they waste and are launching a new campaign to help people make something lovely with their leftovers.

According to StopFoodWaste.ie, the government funded website, amongst the everyday foods that are wasted include:

  • 50% of Salads are wasted
  • 25% of Fruit & Veg
  • 20% of bread
  • 10% of Meat and fish
  • 10% of Yoghurts, milk and dairy

To help combat this everyday waste in Irish kitchens, MACE has partnered with Conor Spacey, chef, author and influencer to bring shoppers a series of six recipes using the most foods that are the most wasted in Ireland. The six recipe videos will be published on MACE’s social media platforms on a weekly basis and will help families to make the most of their grocery shops and play our part in the Stop Food Waste movement.

The 6 recipe videos will be promoted per the below calendar:

  • Video 1 – Saturday 1st March – Roast Vegetable Frittata
  • Video 2 – Tuesday 11th March – Vegetable pasta bake
  • Video 3 – Friday 21st March – Yogurt flatbreads with spicy chicken
  • Video 4 – Monday 31st March – Sunday Leftovers Curry
  • Video 5 – Thursday 10th April – Potato & Carrot Gnocchi
  • Video 6 – Monday 21st April – Strawberry Blondies

All recipes can be found on https://www.mace.ie/food-too-good-to-waste/ and videos can be viewed on https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=KiAtSV2OuaY
