This is a certification that BWG takes great pride in and demonstrates our ongoing commitment to the Origin Green Programme since becoming members in 2018. This is our fourth year of certification against our 5-year plan.
There is considerable time and effort put in from the extended team through the ongoing tracking and monitoring of targets, collation of data and submission process.
The business worked very closely with Bord Bia’s Origin Green team in 2018 to develop a sophisticated and comprehensive 5-year sustainability plan that includes measurable targets around initiatives that will contribute positively to the environment, and to the local communities in which BWG and its retailers and wholesalers operate. Our current plan tracks over 35 individual targets across 10 key target areas.
BWG joins over 300 Irish food and drink companies to prove and improve the sustainability of the food industry in Ireland. BWG Foods has focused its efforts on a range of initiatives to reduce their environmental impact including transitioning to renewable energy sources, lowering carbon emissions, reducing waste output, and adopting more sustainable sourcing methods within its supply chain.
