Dragon’s Den star Bobby Kerr and Davy Fitzgerald officially opened Bernie’s SPAR in Clarecastle last week with a store celebration for customers.
The family fun day featured food, refreshments and prize giveaways, as well as a couple of famous faces. Davy Fitzgerald and Stephen and David O’Halloran brought the Liam McCarthy cup along on the day to wish store owner Bernie Liddy and the team at SPAR Clarecastle well with their new community store.
Features of the new store include a hot and cold deli, Insomnia coffee, an ATM, Quick Pick Lotto, Billpay and Great Gas Forecourt.
Speaking at the opening, store owner Bernie Liddy said: “We are very excited to be opening our store today and to be meeting with our valued customers. It’s nice to be able to give something back to the customers and show them that we appreciate their custom. The opening celebration has given us a great opportunity to showcase our extensive offering, including our popular SPAR Own-Brand range. It is our intention to place a big emphasis on serving the people of Clarecastle with high quality, competitively priced products and friendly service. We will also endeavor to support local producers where possible and seek to establish ourselves as a valued member of the business community.”
Willie O’Byrne, Managing Director at BWG Foods (owners and operators of the SPAR brand in Ireland) said: “We are delighted to welcome Bernie Liddy in Clarecastle to the SPAR family. We know her store will deliver fantastic service and quality to the community and local shoppers will get great value for money with the variety of products and services on offer, supported by ongoing promotions.”
Bernie’s SPAR provides employment for eight staff locally and is open from 7.30am to 9.30pm Monday to Saturday and 8.30am to 9.30pm Sundays and Bank Holidays.
