Hegarty’s MACE Bantry this week celebrated its 20th birthday with a pirate themed party that saw staff and shoppers mark the occasion in fancy dress along with face painting, balloon modelling, competitions and extra special in-store offers.
Store owners Martin and Joe Hegarty bought the premises in 1992 and have since undertaken three refurbishments, the latest coming in 2011 giving the store its unique “Orange Look”. The store, which originally employed four staff, and now employs 20, is known locally for its great offerings which include an in-house bakery and hot deli.
Congratulating the store, Willie O’Byrne, Managing Director, BWG Foods (owners and operators of the MACE brand in Ireland) said: “further to the significant financial investment Joe and Martin made last year in upgrading the premises, they have maintained the highest standard in convenience store retailing, and continued to challenge themselves in providing an even better service and offering to the people of Bantry. Their longevity and commitment to the business is a vote of confidence in the community and demonstrates a dedicated pledge to supporting suppliers and employment locally.
Speaking at the celebration, Martin Hegarty said: “We are delighted to be long standing community retailers in Bantry, aiming to provide the best possible service and value for money to shoppers. We would like to extend our thanks to our dedicated team of staff, and of course our loyal customers”.
The store, which operates 364 days of the year, is open 7.45am till 10.30pm 7 days a week.
