SPAR Helping Support Spring Spin Cycle 2014

Mullingar retailers are getting on their bikes for charity in this year’s Spring Spin Cycle, proudly supported by leading Irish owned and operated convenience retailer SPAR.
The charity event, taking place on the 26th and 27th of April, will see over a hundred cyclists make the 260km two-day trek from Mullingar to Sligo and back again to raise funds for charity.
A family-orientated event, the Family Cycle, will also take place on Sunday April 27th, beginning and ending at The Downs GAA club and open to adults and children over 12 alike.
Last year more than €45,000 was raised for the North Westmeath Hospice and organisers hope to collect even more for this year’s recipients, the North Westmeath Hospice and The Parkinson’s Association of Ireland.
Colin Donnelly, SPAR National Sales Manager, said, “SPAR Ireland is delighted to support the Spring Spin Cycle. Our donation will help make this year’s event even better in terms of fundraising.”
Local retailers Noel McIntyre, Roy Connor and Pat and Una McDonagh said they were proud to support the event.
Noel McIntyre, SPAR Mullingar, Dublin Road, said, “I would like to congratulate Padraic Devine and Kevin Monoghan for raising so much money over the years for the North Westmeath Hospice and also this year the Parkinson’s Association of Ireland . It’s a great event and we’re expecting this year to the best yet. We are so delighted to be involved. I am taking part myself this year and am currently training hard.”
Pat McDonagh said, “Whether you’re cycling in the event yourself or sponsoring a friend or family member who is, you’re doing your part to support some of the most vulnerable people in our community.”
Roy Connor said, “Being part of the local community is very important to us at SPAR, which is why we’re delighted to support two such worthy local charities.”
