Stephanie Roche helps Londis bring a little piece of Heaven to HELL & BACK

Retailer sponsors HELL & BACK for third year and announces Pieta House as charity partner for challenge

Ireland International soccer star Stephanie Roche was on hand to help Londis announce its sponsorship of HELL & BACK for the third year and to reveal a new charity element in aid of Pieta House. This year, Londis will aim to raise funds for its charity partner Pieta House with ‘HELL & BACK for Joy’, giving people even more reason to sign up and take part in the thrilling challenge.

HELL & BACK is Ireland’s toughest physical and mental endurance challenge, attracting thousands of participants through a series of adventure events. Open to everyone and with challenges to suit adults, teens and tots – the first HELL & BACK series will take place on the 15th and 16th of June this summer. In the lead up to, and during the HELL & BACK event, Londis will raise funds for charity partner Pieta House and aim to attract record numbers to raise money for a worthy cause by participating.

Londis has worked with Pieta House for several years, running the ‘for Joy’ fundraising events in support of the charity. In 2016 a parachute jump fundraiser called ‘Jump for Joy’ raised €42,000, in 2017 ‘Climb for Joy’, a fundraiser climbing Carrauntoohil, raised €113,000 and in 2018 the ‘Cycle for Joy’ event, where participants cycled the greenway from Achill to Westport, raised €129,000 for the charity. In 2019, Londis sets a new challenge with ‘HELL & BACK for Joy’ taking place on the 15th June.

Londis ambassador Stephanie Roche knows what it is to take on a new challenge and was delighted to learn about the inclusion of a charity element to this year’s sponsorship by the retailer. Speaking about the announcement Stephanie said: “I’m thrilled to be working with Londis on HELL & BACK again and am delighted to be supporting Londis’ partnership with Pieta House. This challenge gives people the chance to push themselves mentally and physically as well as have a fantastic day out. For anyone looking for another reason to sign up for the challenge, this June 15th ‘HELL & BACK for Joy’ will raise funds for Pieta House. Good luck to everyone, and don’t forget that Londis will be there at the finish line to offer a little piece of heaven to all after going through Hell!”

According to Conor Hayes, Londis Sales Director, “We are delighted to continue our sponsorship of HELL & BACK for the third year in a row. June 15th will be an extra special challenge, as we will be running ‘HELL & BACK for Joy’, which will see Londis Retailers raise funds for Pieta House by taking on the HELL & BACK challenge. We have been running the ‘for Joy’ fundraising events in support of Pieta House for four years and take great pride in working with such an important cause. Londis understands how important community spirit is and I am thrilled that our Retailers will be in the middle of the action and raising funds for Pieta House, such a worthy cause that affects every community in the country.”

Marie Peelo, Deputy Director of Funding & Advocacy at Pieta House commented “We’re passionate about our life-saving work and as 90% of our income comes from fundraising events, we rely heavily on the support and encouragement of our volunteers and friends of Pieta. That is why we are thrilled to be working with Londis on the ‘HELL & BACK for Joy’ on June 15th. Londis have been helping raise funds for Pieta House for four years, and we are really looking forward to ‘HELL & BACK for Joy!”.

HELL & BACK is a tough challenge and Londis want to reward participants at the finish line in their Little Piece of Heaven. In Heaven, participants will be given some TLC and lots of delicious refreshments to give them a much-needed energy boost, compliments of Londis.
